Abstract

Thousands of human lives, animals are lost due to fire break every year. Millions of worth properties are engulfed by fire and turned into ashes. Since the nature of fire is highly chaotic it is very necessary to understand the behavior of fire and the proposed technique to bring the spread of fire under control. This paper makes an attempt to understand the available fire detection techniques and analyze the behavior of each. A perspective to protect life and property, a fire detection system is necessary. However, with existing fire detection system designs the major concern is about uncertainty of fire and false alarm rates. Thus, provides the need for an intelligent technique to detect, analyze and evaluate. A fire detection system can be designed with reduced false alarm rates and locating fire through a combination of gas sensors and smoke sensors and image processing are identified. The key parameters for decision can be analyzed through knowledge based systems or expert systems based on ANN, fuzzy logic. This forms the basis for developing new fire detection techniques and would be key technology for fire detection.
