This paper presents a technique for enhancing the linear range of thermistor. Objective of the proposed work is to (a) make the output of thermistor linear over full scale, by overcoming the saturation effect existing in available sensors, (b) design a multi sensor data fusion (MSDF) framework using thermocouple as another temperature sensor with thermistor. Output derived from thermistor and thermocouple are converted to common representation format using min–max normalization technique. Data association and decision making of the fused data is carried over using fuzzy tool box. MSDF technique once trained is tested for its functionality. Results obtained from the proposed technique produces an improvement in the linearity for the extended range of thermistor and also results show a root mean square of percentage error around 2.49%.
