All of us are aware how important is Big data. But real key to success is not Big data but Smart data. Much of research has been around addressing volume, variety, veracity and velocity. The fifth ‘V’ that is value is very very important. It is that valueable data which is converted to Smart data.This paper explains what is Smart data? How it evolves from Big data? What it supports? and where is it used?. It also explains importance of combining Semantic web technology with Big data technology to generate Smart data.
