Abstract
Internet of Things aims to provide connectivity to users though a network of interconnected devices which communicate with each other to collect, transmit and process data and take decisions intelligently with little or no human intervention. Current systems are Human to Human and Human to Machine Communication Systems, work is underway on Machine to Machine communications which will ultimately lead to construction of Internet of Things. IoT finds many applications and will help to build a smart ecosystem. IoT has many advantages and faces many challenges. This paper is an overview on Internet of Things, we discuss the basic concept of IoT, its characteristics, applications, challenges and future direction
