Abstract

Information Technology has created new horizon for information storage and retrieval. It has led to variety of information sources like CD's, DVD's, electronic databases etc. Searching for. information in these resources is really challenging for the library professionals. Searching can be sometimes a daunting task, however if done efficiently it can enrich as well. Conventional search operators like Boolean operators, truncation searches, wild cards, citation and proximity search can make the search experience easier only if used appropriately. This paper is an attempt at enhancing the search skills by discovering useful tricks in search strategies. The knowledge of these tricks helps the user to save time. Moreover, the paper gives useful information to the searcher in retrieving relevant information at the right time from various databases.
