Evidence based practice or seeking evidence to support public policy is gaining a lot of importance in every field, be it in health science or in social sciences. As McGowan and Sampson rightly pointed out the quality of any search strategy depends on the quality of the person/s developing the searching strategy and also to the person who is searching the literature. Searching is an art that can be developed and practiced. It involves several important steps such as selecting the right source ,finding the keywords by consultation with exeperts, making search string and tailor it to different databases, looking grey literature, selecting key journals for handsearching etc. According to McGawan and Sampson “Searches for systematic reviews need to be constructed to maximise recall and deal effectively with a number of potentially biasing factors”. (McGowan, 2005, p. 75).Explainng the different steps involved in conducting a systematic literature search process for “systematic reviews” Author also tries to explain what are the points to remember while doing a systematic search process for evidence summary.
