Transformed data presented in a meaningful way for use is known as information, whereas, knowledge is the capability for actionable information. Knowledge sharing is among the major goals of academic communities, and therefore, the emphasis on knowledge sharing and management is the central issue for the modern libraries in academic institutions. It includes the process of identification, retrieval and potential utilization of knowledge to help the end-users at the times of their need. Portals render support to this knowledge management process. Knowledge Portal is designed to support knowledge management, and it facilitates transfer, storage, retrieval, creation, integration and application of knowledge in the organization. A web portal with an appropriate link to the required information resources is an important tool for knowledge management. This paper discusses the web portal as a e-content knowledge management tool in modern libraries and a model web portal with Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) to manage resources of a library attached to an academic institution.
