The mission of a university or an academic institution is to extend the chain of knowledge from the infinite past into the infinite future. In this fast growing world, it becomes necessary to quantify each individual’s contribution to the chain of knowledge. To learn the research progress, to improve the quality of research, to know the new trends in all fields, to know the leading journals in any field, to learn about the most cited journal, article and there by the authors, and most importantly to improve the universities ranking among the competitors, a reference librarian need to conduct a study on the Bibliometric, Scientometric and Webometric aspects of a university research outcome. An attempt has been made in this paper to describe the different ways, in which, a reference librarian can help to its institution’s progress and to its faculty members and researchers in achieving the goal.
