Abstract

This paper highlights the approach towards initiating ‘One-Stop-Searching’ tool to meet the users’ requirement at Health Sciences Library of Manipal University, Manipal. The Health Sciences Library has access to plenty of e-resources and currently library is subscribing to 13 online databases, 5996 online journals and 11166 e-books. As the users have to click on each and every subscribed e-content for a search presently, the need for a ‘single search interface’ is the necessity for Health Sciences library. One-Stop-Searching tool can search across library’s all subscribed e-resources the way Google does. The Health Sciences Library began comparing available one-stop-searching tools and requested EBSCO to provide trial access to EDS (EBSCO Discovery Services) by integrating the subscribed e-resources of the Health Sciences Library. EDS trial access went live in the month of January 2017. Now user can identify the closest point of access from EDS trial version with ease and focus their search in the right place. Implementation of ‘one-stop-searching’ tool could become a new, significant and innovative system to find relevant/required information across all library subscribed resources along with open access resources using the single search box. By initiating the trial access to EDS and planning for implementation of the same, the Health Sciences Library of Manipal University is keeping pace with the changing technology.
