Abstract

Hypothyroidism has considerable effect on metabolism and considered to be relatively common among certain population. It can have unfavorable impact on lipid metabolism hence it could manifest numerous cardiovascular disease. Immediate therapeutic intervention can improve lipid metabolism and causes to normalize lipid profile. However, intervention to treat subclinical hypothyroidism is debated. On the other hand, hyperthyroidism can be associated with acquired hypocholesterolemia or unexplained improvement of lipid profile. Overall, thyroid dysfunction should be taken into account when evaluating and treating dyslipidemic patients.
