Abstract
Elevators are an essential part of our day-to-day life; from our homes, offices, schools, hospitals, parking lots and what not. The amount of energy and time spent around elevators is huge. Automation and modernization will help to raise the living standards at convenience of the individuals. At peak hours, elevators are used without even the slightest hesitation of time. Time is a leisure we don’t have and power is another commodity that needs to be used wisely. This paper presents microcontroller and image processing based way to minimize the time and power. Stepper motor is used as the executive component and MCU controls the direction and position. Video monitoring is used to count or to detect the presence of the passenger once a request is received from any floor.
