Abstract

This paper is intended to the study of batch production of differential housing of a tractor through implementing Monte-Carlo Simulation technique in a heavy machine shop. The study has been conducted on work operations which are probabilistic in nature. Real time data has been collected for over hundred operations. Monte- Carlo simulation technique has been applied for evaluation of waiting time as well as machine utilization time. Based on the recommendations, the process sequence has been changed which enhances the machine utilization by reducing the idle time. The study shows 28% productivity improvement by changing process sequences.
