Abstract
Every industry in the manufacturing field needs capability of coping up with customer demands, market scenario to deliver quality product on time. In such conditions industry should have productivity enhancement on a regular basis which can be achieved by controlling the parameters related to rejections and reworks, layout changes, design changes and Line balancing. Throughout the study the focus is to improve the machine shop productivity by calculating performance index of every machine in a medium scale heavy machine shop. Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) is calculated for the efficiency study of individual machines with the aid of performance index and quality index. OEE can be defined as it is the rate that includes all the losses that a piece of production equipment can have and also allows the prioritization of improvement actions. In the presented study efficiency of the equipment is analyzed, bottleneck conditions are solved to increase efficiency. Furthermore, paper concludes with the comparative graphical study and the guideline for the best utilization and adoption of OEE technique for production units
