Abstract
The anticorrosive performance of environmentally friendly biopolymer, inulin was established for the acid corrosion control of 6061Aluminum-15 %( v) SiC (P) composite material (Al-CM). Potentiodynamic polarization (PDP) and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) studies were adopted for corrosion rate measurements. Conditions were optimized to get maximum inhibition efficiency. Kinetic and thermodynamic studies revealed the physical adsorption of inulin on Al-CM surface. Surface characterization such as SEM, EDX, AFM and XRD reaffirmed the adsorption of inulin inhibitor on the material. Inhibition efficiency inulin is 88% at 303 K for 1.0 g L-1. Inulin emerged as potential, eco-friendly green corrosion inhibitor for corrosion control of Al-CM.
