Abstract
With the rapid growth in construction sector, it becomes all the more important toassess the amount of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste being generated andanalyze the practices needed to handle and use this waste before final disposal. In thiswork compressive strength, Split tensile strength, flexural strength and workabilityproperties of recycled aggregate concrete were studied and compared with controlconcrete. The workability of recycled aggregate concrete was higher when comparedto control concrete. The 28 day compressive strength of recycled aggregate concrete was found lesser with control concrete. 7 days compressive strength of recycledaggregate concrete is slightly more than control concrete. The increase in cementcontent from 348.36 Kg/m3 (M20 RAC) to 425.78 Kg/m3 (M30 RAC) has shown increase in split tensile strength by 19.1%. The mix M20 RAC and M25 RAC hasshown same flexural strength with the respective control concrete. We can observe11.1% decrease in flexural strength for the mix M30 RAC with M30 control concrete.
