Abstract

The combination of growing human demands to comfort and environmental crisis has led to the extirpation of HVAC systems from our daily lives to avoid environmental detoriation. Solar radiation provides as an enourmous source of renewable energy which can be utilized very well in the scorching weather of Manipal. This paper highlights the uses of liquid desiccant as an efficient and environmentally benign alternative to the conventional air conditioning systems that cause so many environmental perils. Also, this paper elaborates on the use of TRNSYS to simulate a solar aided liquid desiccant cooling system of recirculation mode using calcium chloride as the desiccant to depict the feasibility and efficiency analysis of the system. Hence, the paper focuses on simulating a system that is facile, fuel saving, exhaust free and non-threatening to the environment.
