The purpose of this study is to create a tire model using Pacejka Magic Formula. Tire is the fundamental component to determine vehicle dynamics and handling of the car. Improving vehicle performance keeping in mind the lateral and longitudinal dynamics can be done with the help of tire properties. The concept of understeer and oversteer are based on tire properties. Tire modeling is important to understand the longitudinal and lateral dynamics of a tire. Hence in this study, data from an actual tire stimulation was used to understand the tire behavior which will be used for suspension tuning to obtain the maximum output out of the tire. In this report the four coefficients pertaining to the Pacejka Magic Formula have been estimated for the Hoosier 18.0x6.0-10 tires at a given pressure, inclination angle and the load conditions given in the data. To find the parameters, the fitness function is optimized by iterating it with the raw data using the optimization techniques available in the MATLAB optimization toolbar. Here, the genetic algorithm has been used to optimize the fitness function.
