Abstract

Injury to sternoclavicular joint is uncommon and an associated disruption of the first and the second ribs is exceedingly rare. We report a 28-year-old man who sustained a sternoclavicular dislocation and fractures of the first two ribs with significant displacement. He underwent open reduction and internal fixation of the sternoclavicular joint and ribs with stainless steel wire sutures. One year post-operatively the reduction was maintained and shoulder function was satisfactory.
