Bridges are mainly designed for its strength case and checked for the stresses developed at service stage in such a way that the stresses obtained should be in a permissible limits. The time dependent properties i.e. creep, shrinkage and temperature act during service stage causing deflection and additional internal forces in the superstructure. Thus having a major impact on the long term performance of the bridge. The aim of this study is to analyze the behavior of a four span multi-cell pre-stressed box girder bridge under time dependent properties. Five models of bridge are considered by providing variation in in ultimate span to inner span ratio and analyzing the models in MIDAS Civil. The structure is analyzed using Grillage method of analysis for accuracy. Data regarding creep and shrinkage is inputted in the wizard according to IRC: 112-2011 and temperature gradient according to IRC: 6-2016. The software results are analyzed based on maximum bending moment and deflection to provide a suitable range of span ratio for achieving a safe and economic design of bridge.
