Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) is fundamental method of construction for small and large-scale buildings. The downside to it is the laborious work and slow construction. The quest for alternate options which will reduce labor, time of construction and cost is leading area of study. Results from the survey for alternatives indicates two options, they are steel and composite elements. The study is conducted on a G+16 commercial building. The analysis and designing is done in ETABS. The options designed are compared to recognize the alternative to RCC with respect to time and economy. The options considered are steel building having steel deck slab, steel beam, composite column and steel bracing for lateral stability. Composite building is like steel building but the lateral steel bracing is replaced with shear walls. Final option is precast options where slab system consists of hollow core units. Beam supporting hollow core are delta beams and precast beams in other direction. Vertical elements i.e, column and shear wall are cast-in-situ. These alternate options are compared to cast-in-situ RCC building.
