The paper presents the analysis results of the seismic response of the elevated water tank for various earthquake ground motions. Analysis of water tank is a complex problem as it involves interaction between fluid and structure. A rectangular tank fixed at the base is analysed. A discrete Finite Element model of structure and liquid is used for the analysis, the liquid inside the tank is divided into finite four noded elements considering the fluid structure interaction. The fluid is considered as incompressible and zero viscosity. Effects of wall thickness variation and time history results are presented for base shear, sloshing displacement and fluid pressure. The study shows that the response of the elevated tank is dependent on flexibility of the wall and on type of earthquakes
