Abstract
Industrial processes are basically controlled using PID controllers, but the PID controller will not give better response for nonlinear processes. However to improve the control performance of a nonlinear processes, several modifications have been carried out for several years in PID control structure. This paper contributes Nonlinear Predictive PI (NPPI) controller with simple control structure, which is suitable for nonlinear processes with dead time. For improvement of fast set point tracking performance, a predictive term in a Nonlinear Predictive PI (NPPI) controller plays a major role. And performance of Nonlinear Predictive PI (NPPI) controller for conical tank level process was demonstrated and compared with Predictive PI (PPI) controller
