The objective of the work proposed here is to analyze OFDM system behavior in Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB-T) systems at both transmission and reception levels and improve its performance. OFDM analysis is crucial because it solves a very critical problem encountered in wireless communications. This helps us to overcome the presence of ISI and multipath fading which are commonly encountered in wireless systems thereby ensuring efficient transmission and reception process. In the first stage we have calculated the system parameter values used for designing the system. The second stage consists of analyzing the output of each and every block of the transmitter and receiver system. Finally, the overall system performance is analyzed with respect to SNR and tried to improve its performance using MMSE technique. We have successfully validated the transmitter system and the receiver by generating the symbol diagram which closely resembles the constellation diagram of 4-QAM. The performance of the DVB-T system is improved successfully by bringing down the error curve using MMSE technique. Some of the conclusions are that the OFDM system is suitable for DVB-T Transmission and Reception process. The transmitter and receiver systems are validated, also their performance is analyzed. The introduction of MMSE technique reduced the error curve thereby improving the performance. Thus we evaluated the performance of DVB-T OFDM systems using simulations in MATLAB and plots are drawn against SNR and came up with an optimized solution for the same by reducing the mean estimation error.
