Abstract

This article reports the developing of a non-contact mechanism for measuring flow rates in rotameters. The setup uses readily available wireless cameras that send video to a remote terminal unit for necessary control action. Flow monitoring has been performed by a pattern searching algorithm performed in the readouts from the camera. For a fixed camera positions with fixed light intensity and an average distance of 40 cm average error has been computed as 0.7% of the human readout
