Abstract

Thepresentstudyinvestigatestheinfluenceofsawdustparticlesontensileandvibration characteristicsofbasalt/epoxycompositesfordifferentweightcontentsofsawdust(2,4and6wt%). Laminateswithsixlayersofbasaltfabricatedusingvacuumbaggingmethodandcuredinambient conditions.Variationofvibrationcharacteristicsdeterminedbyexperimentalmodalanalysisasper ASTMstandards.Incorporationoffillermaterialshowedimprovementintensilepropertiesand naturalfrequencyby30%and22%respectively.Howeverhigherfillercontentinthelaminates resultedinagglomerationandhenceshowedasignificantreductionintensileandvibration properties.
