Abstract

:AnovelplanarmetamaterialbaseddualbandantennaforWLANandWIMAXapplication is reported. The antenna consists of two metamaterial structures (i.e. Square Complementary Split Ring Resonator (SCSRR) and circular Split Ring Resonator (SRR)) and a rectangular stub as the radiating part. The specialty of the proposed metamaterial structure is that each metamaterial unit cell independently controls a particular band. The extraction of medium parameters through waveguide set-up is elaborated in detail. The antenna has a very compact dimension of 0.24λ1×0.21λ1×0.03λ1 (20×18×2.54mm3 atalowerfrequencyof3.6GHz,with|S11| < −10dB bandwidthofabout2.57%(3.42–3.51GHz)and6.38%(5.61–5.98GHz). Stableradiationpattern, good impedance matching and radiation efficiency more than 95% are noticed across the targeted bandwidthoftheantenna
