Abstract

World wide web is utmost important service for human beings at homes, in businesses and in governance. Internet provides easy access to information anywhere and at any time. Internet is the mode of communication for the businesses and their customers, government and their citizens. Web is accessed day in and day out for online services like online banking, e-commerce sites etc. Web servers or web applications can be accessed through a variety of machines and handheld devices. This puts to the high risk of high cyber threats. Most popular type of attacks for hackers in today’s era are being malware, phishing, SQL injection attacks, cross site scripting, denial of service, session hijacking etc. This paper demonstrates denial of service attacks which is a threat on the internet and its variants using tools like hping3, hyaena, LOIC, Ettercap and lbd. The project is built in the virtualization setup to avoid the ramifications where the vulnerabilities are identified and the conclusions are drawn along with the results
