Personality trait refers to individual’s characteristics or pattern of behaviour and is proposed to have influence on oral health. We aimed to assess the relationship of personality traits with the oral health status. The Big Five Inventory was used to assess the personality trait. Oral Hygiene Index - Simplified (OHI-S) and DMFT (Decayed/Missing/Filled Teeth) index was used to assess the oral health. The study showed negative correlation between OHI/DMFT scores with personality traits like Extraversion and Conscientiousness. This indicates that few personality traits have better oral health status and hence special care would be required in other types of personalities
