Dynamic response of a multi-storey plane frame structure having three degrees of freedom (two translations along x, y -axes and one rotation about z-axis) at each node, with multiple tuned mass dampers (MTMDs) on its top is obtained. MTMDs with uniformly distributed frequencies are considered for this purpose. The effect of total number of MTMDs and excitation frequency on the effectiveness of the MTMDs is also studied. The response of structure with tuned mass dampers (TMD) is found to be less in comparison to the corresponding response without TMD, implying that the TMD is effective in reducing acceleration, forces and displacement in the system. It is also found that the multiple tuned mass dampers are more effective than a single tuned mass damper.
