In the present work, an attempt is made to assess the influence of wave period and the relative submergence of the berm on the stability of statically stable berm breakwater. Berm breakwater models with relative submergence of berm, at hb/d = 0.675, 0.8, 0.925 and 1.05 are studied. The extent of damage to the breakwater for different positions of berm with respect to the water level is quantified. Influence of wave period on the stability of breakwater depends on the position of the berm. Position of the berm at hb/d=0.80 is found to be more stable than the other positions studied followed by hb/d=0.925 for all the variables studied. The Experimental work is carried out in the Marine Structures Laboratory, Department of Applied Mechanics and Hydraulics, National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal, India.
