Abstract
The compound, 1-(2-hydroxy-4-methoxyphenyl)-3-(3 methylthiophen)prop-2-en-1-one was synthesized by using 4-methoxy-2-hydroxyacetophenone and 3-methylthiophene corboxaldehyde solutions.The reaction was monitored by thin layer chromatography (TLC) technique. The synthesized product was characterized by spectroscopically and confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies. The compound, C15H14O3S crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal class under the space group P21/c. The molecular structure exhibits intramolecular hydrogen bond of the type O--H...O. The hydrogen bonds connect the hydroxy donor group and the C=O acceptor group
