Abstract

Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in Coastal Karnataka, Karnataka State are in the forefront in the medical educational field of the country. There are seven medical colleges in and around Manipal, Mangalore and Sullia which attract students from all parts of the country and abroad. Medical college libraries of Coastal Karnataka have assembled an extraordinary set of web resources in support of medical education. However, there has been limited sharing of web resources among the libraries. To improve the quality level of teaching, learning and clinical practice; and to considering the importance of information in medical research and development, the present information explosion, a model to share the web resources among medical college libraries in Coastal Karnataka through consortium approach is suggested in this paper.
