Abstract
Today academic institutions are giving prime importance on the student internship so that it gives the students the added advantage to do well in their placements. Training plays a crucial role in the hospitality based education in the form of internship where quality is the most important characteristic differentiating an institution to another. Training should be interdisciplinary with knowledge/skill requirements in technical culinary skills, communication skills, business knowledge, and food science, to name a few (Harrington, Mandabach, Van Leeuwen, Thibodeaux, 2005).This paper examines efforts taken by Welcomgroup Graduate School Hotel Administration for implementing the in house training programmes for hotel management students at the four star property attached to the college and how standards and evaluations carried out to improve upon their practical skills.
