Abstract
In this paper, an effort is made to enlighten the application of Expert System for the interior lighting design. In conjunction with conventional calculations, the Expert System is applied for the selection of suitable number of lamps and their proper alignment in a general office. Finally, the glare index is also determined. The Expert System developed designs the lighting scheme for minimum number of lamps and their best alignment. The software developed utilizes the knowledge of the experts in the field of lighting design and all the power of a computer. Therefore it generates confidence in the user.
