Abstract

A study to evaluate the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge and attitude about complementary feeding among mothers of infants in selected Primary Health Centers of Udupi District Adequate nutrition and early feeding patterns are important determinants of health during infancy. Infancy holds a very important place in the life of every individual because the entire structure of man’s life is formed during this time. Breast feeding alone is sufficient for six months. Thereafter concentrated energy dense complementary foods are essential in order to maintain an adequate velocity of growth of an infant. Complementary feeding period is difficult period in the infant’s life because if the food supplements are not adequate in quality or quantity the child becomes undernourished.
