Abstract
A rare case of infective endocarditis due to Ps. maltophilia in a male aged 25-years-old upon closure of ventricular septal opening is recorded. The disease occurred eight months after the conduction of an open heart surgery on this patient. Ps. maltophilia was repeatedly isolated from blood and bone marrow, Autopsy materials from heart. lung & liver also grew Ps.maltophilia.Serological study revealed precipitating & rising titres of gglutinating antibodies against Ps. maltophilia in the patient's serum. This bacterial strain showed susceptibility to gentamicin and chloramphenicol.
