Abstract
Background: Maintenance of normothermia during scoliosis surgery is difficult due to multiple reasons. Patients & Methods: We studied the effect of using forced warm air convector in a modified way on nasopharyngeal temperature in 30 patients undergoing scoliosis surgery (posterior approach). Results: This modified method of application of forced warm air convector was found to be effective in preventing intraoperative hypothermia during scoliosis surgeries. Conclusions: This alternate method of application of forced warm air convector was found to be effective in preventing intraoperative hypothermia during scoliosis surgeries.
