Abstract

There are several research fields in computer science that have embraced ontologies, including knowledge engineering, knowledge representation, qualitative modeling, language engineering, semantic web, database design, information retrieval and extraction, and knowledge management and organization. Ontologies are knowledge bodies that provide a formal representation of a shared conceptualization of a particular domain. Different people/organizations can come up with different ontologies associated with same domain. In such cases ontology mapping is an essential process. This paper introduces a novel method for mapping ontologies based on instance and metadata
