Abstract
The study of embankment on soft soil is one of the permanent problems of geotechnical engineering. To design embankments on soft soils it is essential to take into account the multiple constructive techniques that solve some of these problems. The most used technique is the use of prefabricated vertical drains in the foundation soils which accelerate the rate of consolidation. The soil structure with vertical drains is a three dimensional axisymmetric model. However, a three dimensional axisymmetric model is more time consuming and inconvenient. Hence the three dimensional axisymmetric models in finite
