Abstract

Aggregating data within the network is an important aspect of sensor network to conserve energy and enhance the network life time in wireless sensor network. This article provides a review of the existing literature on in-network data aggregation using tree based approach in wireless sensor networks. The merits and demerits of each protocol are discussed. Protocols which carry out data aggregation and have tree structure to avoid duplicates are studied here. A comparison of various ways to save energy in these protocols is covered.
