Abstract

Novel thienopyrimidines (2, 3, 4) and 1, 3, 4-triazole fused thienopyrimidines (5a-c) were synthesized efficiently from 2-Amino-6-methyl-4, 5, 6, 7-tetrahydro-1-benzothiophene-3-carbonitrile 1 under microwave irradiation technique as well as by classical heating. The Precursor 1 was prepared by employing the Gewald reaction using microwave irradiation. The structures of newly synthesized thiophene derivatives were ascertained by spectral and analytical data and they were screened for antimicrobial activity where they had showed promising antibacterial and antifungal activities
